Recently, the Bureau of Justice of Shanghai Pudong New Area and the People’s Court of Pudong New Area jointly held the Conference for the Release of the White Paper on Full Coverage of Criminal Defense and the Publicity of Typical Cases. The criminal defense team of Shanghai Tianyuge Law Firm, a long-term participant in this initiative, attended the conference. The official launch of the White Paper on the Work of Full Coverage of Criminal Defense systematically summarized the practical outcomes of the full coverage initiative implemented in Pudong over the past one and a half years, alongside the release of multiple typical case studies. A case of concealing or covering up criminal proceeds handled by Attorney Wang Dan was selected as a typical case.

Full coverage of criminal defense constitutes a vital criminal justice system that safeguards defendants’ procedural rights and promotes judicial fairness. Since the rollout of this initiative in Pudong, coordination and collaboration among courts, judicial administrations and the legal profession have been steadily deepened.
