Release time: 2026-11-06

Recently, Yang Jianmin, Party Secretary of the School of Humanities and Law, Yanshan University, and his delegation visited Shanghai Tianyuge (Beijing) Law Firm. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the development of off-campus internship bases, the training of legal talents, and the practical collaboration between entertainment law and intellectual property. Lawyer Wang De, Deputy Director of the Beijing Branch of Tianyuge Law Firm and an alumnus of Yanshan University, together with other relevant persons-in-charge of the firm, attended the forum.

Site Visit to Learn about the Firm’s Professional Layout

Accompanied by representatives from the Beijing Branch of Tianyuge Law Firm, the college delegation toured the office premises and brand exhibition area to learn about the firm’s development history, professional layout and team building. Founded in 2015, Tianyuge Law Firm takes entertainment law and intellectual property as its core strengths. Its business covers bankruptcy restructuring, private equity funds, investment and M&A, banking and finance, data protection, criminal defense and other fields. It has built a nationwide service network with Shanghai as its headquarters and Beijing, Shenzhen and Chengdu as regional hubs. Located in the core area of Beijing’s Chaoyang CBD, the Beijing Branch has continuously integrated Beijing’s geographical and professional resources since its establishment in 2022, forming distinctive practical expertise in legal services for the entertainment industry and resolution of complex commercial disputes. During the visit, the college delegation was deeply impressed by Tianyuge’s long-standing expertise in entertainment law and intellectual property.

Forum Focused on Talent Cultivation and Integration of Theory and Practice

At the forum, the law firm extended a warm welcome to the faculty delegation from Yanshan University and reviewed the foundation for bilateral cooperation. In June 2024, the Beijing Branch of Tianyuge Law Firm was officially awarded the title of “Off-campus Internship and Practice Base of Yanshan University”, establishing a substantive platform for university-firm collaborative talent training. The firm stated that both theoretical foundations and practical training are indispensable in legal education. As a “second classroom”, the law firm shall help students translate academic knowledge into practical capabilities through real cases and projects. In recent years, the Beijing Branch of Tianyuge has continuously recruited young legal professionals in entertainment law, intellectual property, civil and commercial dispute resolution and other areas. Relying on the internship base, it is ready to provide multi-level practical opportunities for students from Yanshan University, including legal document drafting training, court hearing observation and participation in project follow-up work.

The lead representative of the college expressed gratitude to the Beijing Branch of Tianyuge for its support for the college’s talent cultivation work, and introduced the college’s discipline development and talent training programs. The college noted that a key challenge facing modern legal education is to better connect classroom teaching with real legal practice scenarios. The initiative of “campus visits to expand employment opportunities” aims not only to create more job openings, but also to broaden students’ horizons and benchmark their competency standards. Tianyuge’s practical experience in emerging interdisciplinary fields such as entertainment law and intellectual property offers a valuable window and starting point for legal education. Both sides hope to establish actionable cooperation mechanisms in internship training, embedding practical courses and career guidance for young legal practitioners. The college also welcomes lawyers from Tianyuge to deliver lectures on campus and share frontline practical experience with students.

Business Sharing: Discussion on Entertainment Law Cases and IP Adjudication Rules

During the professional exchange session, Lawyer Wang De, drawing on Tianyuge’s practical experience in entertainment law, presented representative cases handled by the firm covering film and television project development and investment & financing, artist management and entertainment contracts, copyrights for music and short videos, format protection of variety shows, platform content compliance and dispute resolution. He analyzed new demands for legal services arising from the entertainment industry’s complex right chains, long contract performance cycles and diverse forms of infringement. Afterwards, participants discussed court adjudication rules governing current intellectual property cases. Both parties agreed that entertainment law and IP cases are highly dependent on industrial contexts and changes in judicial policies, making case studies and continuous tracking of judicial rules between university and law firm practically meaningful.

Pragmatic Discussion to Identify Feasible Cooperation Entry Points

During the exchange, the two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation directions. For internships and practical training: A project-based internship model will be explored in light of the work rhythm of Tianyuge’s Beijing Branch, enabling students to receive targeted guidance from supervising lawyers while undertaking specific tasks such as copyright protection, entertainment contract review and sorting out commercial disputes. For academic and practical interaction: Both sides observed that numerous issues in entertainment law and intellectual property lie at the intersection of regulatory rules and industrial practices, which creates natural conditions for joint case studies and research projects. Led by typical cases, the two sides may promote two-way exchanges between faculty research insights and lawyers’ practical experience. For employment transition: Drawing on its recruitment and mentoring experience over recent years, the law firm shared feedback on the document-writing skills, communication competency and industry awareness required for young legal professionals. The college indicated that such practical insights will be incorporated into the dynamic optimization of its talent training programs.

At the end of the forum, the college’s lead representative remarked that the visit to Tianyuge’s Beijing Branch allowed them to witness the firm’s clear path toward specialization and brand building, and further identified areas where the college can leverage external resources for practical teaching and employment guidance. Taking the internship and practice base as a starting point, the college hopes to gradually translate the consensus reached during the forum into institutional arrangements, and continuously expand cooperation in talent cultivation, practical research and Party building collaboration. Tianyuge responded that it will maintain an open attitude to facilitate daily internship mentoring and university-firm collaboration, and jointly contribute its practical platform to the training of legal professionals.
